Fuchsin Test to Top

This test is for detection of aldehydes in fats and oils.
1. Into a test tube, place 1 mL of fat or oil to be tested.
2. To the testing sample add 1 mL of chloroform and 2 mL fuchisin reagent.
3. Shake the tube 1 minute and let stand 10 minutes. A milk white or violet emulsion indicates aldehyde(s) is/are present.
