Catalase

1. Break 2.5 gms of finely chopped sample in a test tube.
2. Place about 20 mL of distilled water in same test tube.
3. Soak 15 minutes.
4. Add 0.5 mL of 0.5% hydrogen peroxide [H2O2] solution.
5. Mix quickly by inverting tube.
6. If catalase is still active, a fairly vigorous evoluation of oxygen [O2] will ensue within a few minutes.
