  • Shorten or adapt reports or speeches you've already written.
  • Make a list of 6,8, 10 ways to do something better.
  • Exchange ideas with colleagues.
  • Read something new everyday; keep an ideas file.
  • PRODUCTION AND PACKAGING
  • Get your ideas flowing
  • Talk into a tape recorder.
  • Have a ideas and stuff file in your computer[back it up]
  • Jot outline--index cards or Post-It notes
  • Free write 5 to 10 minutes each day
  • "Copy-write"
  • Don't get "blocked" before you get started; leave opening for last, if necessary.
  • Separate writing and editing; first write a rough draft.
  • Edit out unnecessary words, phrases, jargon.
  • Make the manuscript letter-perfect!
  • Read aloud as final check for clarity and phrasing.
  • Pay an expert to edit the piece --or consider collaborating.
