Gourmet functional foods. Seamless preparation convenience, mass market cost efficiences, and organoleptic improvement in functional foods and beverages will make this a mega-industry in parts of Asia, throughout Europe and North America.

Niche supplememnts. Dietary supplement manufacturers will soon discover the value of offering products custom formulation for specialized demographic segments seniors, aging "weekend warriors," those with hazardous jobs, out-of-shape "desk jockeys" and other specific consumer riches.

Probiotics. Over-presciption of antibiotics, food safety concerns, and complex systemic health problems will escalate sales of probiotics and prebiotic fortified foods and dietary supplememnts into a significant nutraceutical/dietary supplememnt category workshops. OTC-Herbal fusion. FDA and Health & Human Services modification of labeling regulations for dietary supplememnts opens new possibilities for marketers seeking broader product positions. Regulations also will open hybrid product categories combining synthetic OTC with "natural" ingredients, nutrients, foods and botanicals. These nutritional-OTC hybrids afford powerful synergies become previous divergent consumer products while offering multiple health benefits to budget-conscious consumers.
