Directories from commercial and professional organizations serve as a valuable resource. The membership directories of such organizations as the Institute of Food Technologists, will assist in locating membership. Supplies and equipment resources can be obtained from a variety of organizations.
One should not disregard various food- and nutrition-related journals as resources to review trends, new information, and product and ingredient resources. As a "food professional" a number of these publications may be available "free". In the past, I have observed that it works best to indicate a business address. It is evident from the way that this started off that the instructor was initially caught-up in her own paradigm. There are many many types of resources other than directories, journals, and newspapers. Peers and other professionals are an important resource. Each professional should join the professional society within her/his area of interest. The Institute of Food Technologists gives a broad spectrum of food-related interests.
