A flavoring extracted from the dried roots of a widely cultivated herb in the United States and Europe. Used in cheese, fruit, maple, black walnut, walnut, and vanilla flavorings for beverages, ice cream, ices, candy, baked goods, and condiments. The yellowish green to brown oil is used in raspberry, cheese, grape, peach, honey, maple, and black walnut flavorings for beverages, ice cram, ices, candy, baked goods, and gelatin desserts. Has been used as a sedative. No known toxicity.
