Colorless, viscous liquid soluble in water and insoluble in oil. Used in the manufacture of perfume and of food additives. Occurs naturally in the oils of lavender, lemon, lime, lovage, orange peel, and coconut. It has a penetrating, aromatic scent. No known toxicity.
