Literally 'Cheese of the Isle', being a variety of cow's milk cheese made in various Portuguese islands. The name of the particular island where the cheese was made is sometimes mentioned, such as Queijo de Ilha Tereira, Queijo da Ilha do Pico (Azores), etc.
