is a village in Burgundy which has given its name to a vine. The petit gamay is one of the most prolific vines in Burgundy.
Although this vine is not of as fine a quality as the pinot, Gamay grapes are much sought after for their yield, which is always fairly high. The grapes of the Gamay vine are sometimes used with those of the pinot, but the grapes of the pinot are used by themselves in the best wines.
