According to the textbook used fall 2000 in NFM 225, Understanding Nutrition, the "stomach normally maintains a pH between 1.5 and 1.7". I also searched Netscape to confirm this answer. The first article I found was by Schorah CJ, Habibzedah N, et al. The subject was Vitamin C in the human stomach and it's relation to gastric pH, etc. The paper states that stomach pH is between 1 and 2. The second article was by the National Park Service at http://www.aqd.ups.gov/avd/table1.html and it provides a table listing the pH of several different items. It lists human gastric contents at between 1 and 3.
