I'm 31 and dealing with anxiety and stress. My doctor put me on Paxil for this. Within three weeks, I felt better, but then I had a panic attach at work. I also lost weight, I went form 196 pounds to 152. When I have panic attackes I have an irregular heartbeat. This is the worst thing ever. At times I feel like my time is up. I've started taking St. John's wort and skullcap. Are there any other herbs to help with my panic attacks? I am desperate. to Top

Do not take St. John's wort together with Paxil. The combination could lead to a dangerous excess of serotonin. This can case tremor, agitation, dizziness, high blood pressure and irregular heart rhythms. Tell your doctor about your situation. Although Paxil is prescribed for panic, some people experience anxiety and palpitations as side effects. Ask if another treatment might be appropriate for you. Cognitive behavioral therapy can be highly effective. Get guidance on tapering Paxil gradually if you stop to avoid an unpleasant withdrawal syndrome.
