How can I determine the nutritive value or food composition of an ingredient or food? to Top

The most complete approach is to use the information at the Food and Nutrition Information Center. This can be obtained at http://www.nal.usda.gov/fnic/etext/000020.html

Irregardless of the data obtained, if you have any problem with nutrition intake or use, a registered dietitian can be useful and helpful. the registered dietitian must meet certain minimal competency. A number of selected states also liscense a nutritionist. These also must meet minimal competency. Anyone can call them selves a nutritionist or dietitian. If you want to find a dietitian you might access the incomplete listing on the American Dietetic Association site. Additionally, I find hospitals or local health departments here in the United States can sometimes locate one in your area.
