    That in the trans form will likely have a lower melting point as the triglycerides in the TRANS form can align better. The good example is oleic fatty acid with fatty acids in CIS form with melting point of ~16C and elaidic fatty acids with TRANS form and a melting point of ~43C.

    The reason for this is the trans form of an unsaturated fatty acid does not fit together nearly as well as the CIS form.
