The product has become rancid. Using it in food preparation will result in off-flavored foods. Discard is recommended. Rancidity is accelerated by warm temperatures. If the bottle of oil is used slowly, as in the case of some seniors living alone, storage in the refrigerator and purchasing smaller amounts should eliminate the problem.
